Advocate Praveen Kumar Giri Sworn In As A Judge Of Allahabad High Court

Advocate Praveen Kumar Giri was sworn in as Judge of the Allahabad High Court on January 27. The Central Government issued the notification regarding his appointment on January 23, pursuant to the recommendation made by the Supreme Court Collegium in December of the preceding year. With his elevation, the current working strength of the Allahabad High Court has increased to 79 Judges, as against its sanctioned capacity of 160 Judges.

 

Prior to his appointment, Justice Giri served as an Additional Advocate General and garnered considerable recognition for being the youngest person to hold that esteemed position. A native of Azamgarh, he was born on January 20, 1975, to Komal Prasad Giri, a former Warrant Officer in the Indian Army. Justice Giri completed his early education at Janata Inter College in his hometown and subsequently earned a BA, LLB, and LLM from Allahabad University.In 2017, the Government of Uttar Pradesh appointed him as the Additional Chief Standing Counsel, following which he was elevated to the position of Additional Advocate General.
