Centre Appoints 6 Members To National Green Tribunal

The Central Government has appointed two judicial members and four expert members to the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

 

Judicial Members Appointed:

 

  • Justice Sudhir Kumar Jain, who formerly served as a Judge of the Delhi High Court and is currently functioning as a Member of the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC), has been appointed as a Judicial Member of the NGT.

  • Justice Umesh Chandra Sharma, previously a Judge of the Allahabad High Court and currently holding the post of Judicial Member at the Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT), Regional Bench, Chandigarh, has also been appointed to the Tribunal.

Expert Members Appointed:

 

  • Shri Sudhir Kumar Chaturvedi, a retired officer of the Indian Forest Service (Gujarat cadre, 1986 batch), who last served as the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Head of Forest Force, Government of Gujarat.

  • Shri Ishwar Singh, an Indian Forest Service officer (AGMUT cadre, 1988 batch), who retired as Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

  • Dr. Sujit Kumar Bajpayee, currently serving as a Member of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) and previously appointed as Joint Secretary (Lateral Entry) in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC).

  • Shri Prashant Gargava, who retired as Director (Scientist 'F') overseeing the Control of Pollution under the National Clean Air Programme at the MoEFCC, and also served as the Member-Secretary of the Central Pollution Control Board.
