Delhi High Court Designates 70 Lawyers as Senior Advocates, First Since 2021

The Permanent Committee of the Delhi High Court has recommended 71 lawyers for designation as Senior Advocates, following an evaluation of over 300 candidates.

 

The Committee comprises Chief Justice Manmohan, Justice Vibhu Bakhru, Justice Yashwant Varma, Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma, Senior Advocate Sudhir Nandrajog, and Senior Advocate Mohit Mathur.

The Permanent Committee reviewed the applications of all candidates seeking senior designation, with the exception of three candidates.

 

The application of Advocate Jayant Tripathi was deferred on account of medical reasons. Meanwhile, the applications of Advocates Raghav Awasthi and Hossain Zoheb were deferred as the Committee, at this stage, did not find it appropriate to relax the eligibility criteria.

 

This is the first time since March 2021 that the High Court has conferred the title of Senior Advocate, with 55 lawyers receiving the designation in 2021.

 

The Delhi High Court’s recent decision to elevate 70 lawyers to the position of Senior Advocates serves as a recognition of their outstanding legal expertise and significant contributions to the profession. This prestigious title underscores their exceptional skills, marking an important milestone in their careers and reinforcing the strength of the legal community.
