Government Appoints 31 IRS Officers as GSTAT Technical Members With ₹2.25 Lakh Monthly Pay

The Government of India has appointed 31 senior officers of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes), both retired and serving, as Technical Members (Centre) in the State Benches of the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT). The appointments have been made under the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (Appointment and Conditions of Service of President and Members) Rules, 2023, read with the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017.
According to the Office Order dated 8 August 2025 issued by the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, the appointed members will receive a fixed monthly salary of ₹2,25,000 for a term of four years from the date of assuming charge, or until they attain 67 years of age, whichever is earlier. They are required to join and take charge at the Principal Bench, GSTAT, New Delhi, on or after September 1, 2025, within four weeks thereafter. Before joining, each officer must submit a medical fitness certificate from an authority specified by the Central Government.
