Gujarat RERA Directs Builders To Install On-Site Boards Displaying Full Project Details For Buyer Transparency

The Gujarat Real Estate Regulatory Authority (GujRERA) has issued a significant directive requiring all real estate developers in the State to display comprehensive project information at every RERA-registered construction site. The Authority observed that many prospective homebuyers depend solely on the RERA website or QR codes printed on the registration certificate to access essential information, which often results in confusion and lack of awareness. According to the order dated November 28, 2025, developers must now ensure that all critical project details are prominently displayed at the physical project location so that any visiting homebuyer can easily verify the status and legality of the project without depending exclusively on digital platforms.
In its order, the Authority stated that every ongoing RERA-registered project must install an information board or banner displaying the RERA registration number, the QR code exactly as printed on the registration certificate, and the link to the RERA website. Further, the display must include the approved sanctioned plans, the layout plans, the project specifications and amenities, the construction status and related details, the particulars of the RERA-designated bank account for project collections, and information regarding any project-level loan. The clear intention behind the directive is to provide prospective homebuyers with immediate, accurate and holistic information at the site itself rather than compelling them to rely solely on online modes.
To ensure maximum transparency and uniformity across projects, the Authority has also prescribed exact size and formatting specifications. Developers are required to use a board, banner, hoarding or digital screen measuring 2 metres by 1.2 metres, placed at the project entrance at a height between 1.5 and 2 metres. The material must be waterproof and display information on a background in either white or yellow. The lettering must be large enough for easy readability, with a minimum size of 2.5 cm, and the QR code must appear in a 15 × 15 cm square. The emphasis on strict formatting requirements signals that the Authority does not intend the mandate to be treated as a mere formality but as a critical transparency measure designed for public benefit.
In addition to physical display, promoters are obligated to upload geo-tagged photographs of the installed display boards on the Gujarat RERA portal. These photographs must clearly show the latitude and longitude of the board, which will serve as proof of compliance. The Authority has expressly stated that failure to follow the directive will attract action under the RERA Act, indicating that the requirement is mandatory and not voluntary.
GujRERA has underscored that providing vital information directly at the project site enables buyers to verify legal, technical and financial aspects of the project without depending on sales personnel, promotional brochures or incomplete information from third parties. The order further highlights that the new directive is expected to strengthen consumer protection, reduce misinformation, and build greater trust in Gujarat’s real estate sector by bringing transparency to the forefront.
