
Justice Taj Ali Moulasab Nadaf sworn in as Karnataka High Court judge

Justice Taj Ali Moulasab Nadaf was sworn in as an additional judge of the Karnataka High Court on Monday morning. The oath was administered by Chief Justice NV Anjaria during a formal ceremony attended by High Court judges, members of the legal fraternity, and the Chairman of the State Bar Council of Karnataka, Vishalaraghu HL, who delivered the welcome address.
In a brief address, Justice Nadaf expressed gratitude to the Supreme Court and High Court Collegium members for recommending his appointment, as well as to his family, teachers, and fellow legal professionals who have supported him throughout his legal journey. Emphasizing the importance of cooperation from both the Bar and the Bench in his new role, he stated: "An opportunity has come to me to serve this great institution. I seek the guidance of Hon'ble Chief Justice, Shri NV Anjaria and esteemed brother and sister judges in my future endeavours. I shall strive hard to uphold the traditions of this great institution. I take this opportunity to seek the cooperation of the members of the Bar to enable to discharge my duties true to the oath I have taken. I shall strive hard and put forth my sincere efforts with dignity consistent with the high traditions set by our illustrious predecessors and meet the exacting demands of a judge to the best of my abilities. I thank you all once again. Jai Hind, Jai Karnataka."
Justice Nadaf has been appointed as an additional judge for a tenure of two years. His appointment was approved by the Central government on February 12, 2025, more than two years after the Supreme Court Collegium initially recommended his elevation from the Bar in January 2023.
Following his swearing-in, the Karnataka High Court's working strength increased to 50 judges, against a sanctioned strength of 62, leaving 12 vacancies.
