RG Kar Rape and Murder | Victim's Parents Approach Calcutta High Court, Seeking Fresh Investigation
In a new turn of events related to the tragic rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, the victim's parents have approached the Calcutta High Court, challenging the ongoing CBI investigation and requesting a fresh probe into the case.
While the trial against the primary accused, Sanjoy Roy, continues before the trial court, two other individuals implicated in an alleged cover-up conspiracy, including former principal Sandip Ghosh, were granted bail due to the CBI’s failure to file a chargesheet within the mandated 90-day period.
Previously, in the aftermath of the incident, the victim’s parents had petitioned the Calcutta High Court against the State police's investigation, resulting in the case being handed over to the CBI. The CBI has since provided regular status updates to the Supreme Court. The parents’ current plea was listed before Justice Tirthankar Ghosh, who directed the matter to be listed for hearing on Monday.
