In a major development, the Supreme Court Collegium, in its meeting held on July 28, 2025, has approved a series of judicial appointments and confirmations across several High Courts in the country.

Appointments to the Bombay High Court

The Collegium approved the proposal for appointment of appointment of three Advocates as Judges of the Bombay High Court:

• Shri Ajit Bhagwanrao Kadethankar

• Ms. Aarti Arun Sathe

• Shri Sushil Manohar Ghodeswar

Delhi High Court Gets New Judge

In a key appointment, Judicial Officer Shri Vimal Kumar Yadav has been appointed as a Judge of the Delhi High Court.

Four Additional Judges Made Permanent in Andhra Pradesh High Court

The following Additional Judges have been confirmed as Permanent Judges in the Andhra Pradesh High Court:

• Shri Justice Harinath Nunepally

• Smt. Justice Kiranmayee Mandava (also referred to as Kiranmayee Kanaparthy)

• Smt. Justice Sumathi Jagadam

• Shri Justice Nyapathy Vijay

Chhattisgarh High Court Appointment

The Collegium has approved the appointment of Shri Justice Ravindra Kumar Agrawal, who was serving as an Additional Judge, as a Permanent Judge in the Chhattisgarh High Court.

Calcutta High Court Sees Multiple Confirmations and Extensions

The Calcutta High Court received multiple decisions:

• Permanent appointments: Shri Justice Partha Sarathi Sen and Shri Justice Apurba Sinha Ray have been confirmed as Permanent Judges.

• One-year extensions: Seven Additional Judges have been recommended for reappointment for a fresh term of one year. These include:

• Shri Justice Biswaroop Chowdhury

• Shri Justice Prasenjit Biswas

• Shri Justice Uday Kumar

• Shri Justice Ajay Kumar Gupta

• Shri Justice Supratim Bhattacharya

• Shri Justice Partha Sarathi Chatterjee

Karnataka High Court Appointment

Shri Justice Gurusiddaiah Basavaraja, previously serving as an Additional Judge, has been appointed as a Permanent Judge of the Karnataka High Court.
