In a powerful show of solidarity, the Supreme Court of India today unanimously condemned the terrorist attack that occurred yesterday in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, targeting innocent tourists. The full Court convened to adopt a formal resolution denouncing what it described as a “diabolical act of mindless violence.”
Expressing profound anguish, the Court’s resolution declared the attack a grim reminder of the inhumanity that terrorism perpetuates. “This cowardly act has shaken the conscience of the nation,” the resolution stated, as the Court paid tribute to the victims and extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
“The attack on tourists, who were merely enjoying the natural beauty of the Crown Jewel of India—Kashmir—is undoubtedly an affront to the values of humanity and the sanctity of life,” the statement read.
In a solemn moment of unity, judges, lawyers, court staff, and members of the Registry observed two minutes of silence to honor the memory of those killed and injured in the attack. The Supreme Court reiterated the nation's collective support for the victims and their families during this time of immense grief.
The tragic incident has sparked national outrage, drawing strong reactions from various corners of society and reinforcing calls for peace and resilience in the face of terror.
