Safiya Malik

A total of 356 Advocates have successfully cleared the Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record (AoR) examination for the year 2024. Out of the 1,205 candidates who registered for the examination, many remained absent.

According to the Supreme Court Rules, 2013, and the Regulations governing the AoR examination, specific provisions allow candidates meeting certain criteria to reappear for particular papers to improve their results.

  • Regulation 11(i): A total of 101 candidates qualify under this regulation. It allows a candidate who has failed to secure 50 percent marks in one paper but has achieved an aggregate of 60 percent across the remaining papers to reappear for that specific paper in a subsequent examination. The candidate will be declared to have passed if they secure 50 percent in the reattempted paper and their combined marks from the subsequent and earlier attempts amount to 60 percent of the total aggregate.

  • Regulation 11(ii): A total of 81 candidates qualify under this provision. This regulation applies to candidates who pass all papers in a single examination but fail to achieve an aggregate of 60 percent. Such candidates are allowed to reappear for one paper in a subsequent examination. If the marks obtained in the reattempted paper, combined with their earlier marks, reach 60 percent of the total aggregate, they will be declared to have passed.
