The Department of Legal Affairs (DOLA) has launched its Internship Programme aimed at law students and graduates to provide them exposure to its working. This initiative trains interns in legal research, referencing, court procedures, and drafting legal advice across fields such as constitutional, administrative, finance, infrastructure, economic, labour, conveyancing, arbitration, and contract law.
Indian students who have completed the second year of a three-year LLB or the third year of a five-year integrated law course, as well as law graduates from recognised institutions, are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to those with advanced computer skills including MS Office, infographics, and Adobe.
The internship spans one month, commencing on the first working day of each month unless notified otherwise. Applicants must fill out the online application form and upload all required documents before the deadline. Current students need to attach a No Objection Certificate from their college, while graduates can upload their final year certificate without it.
Selection is capped at 50 interns per month. Details regarding shortlisting will be communicated via the Internship Portal or email. Selected interns will be deployed across the Main Secretariat in New Delhi, Supreme Court’s Central Agency Section, Delhi High Court Litigation Section, and Branch Secretariats in Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru.
Interns will receive a certificate upon successful completion, requiring at least 90% attendance and satisfactory performance remarks. This is a full-time, physically attended internship, and interns should not engage in any other course or employment during the period.
An honorarium of Rs. 5000 will be given to interns post-completion. The last date to apply for the upcoming batch is 9th July 2025, by 5:00 PM.
