A team of sitting Supreme Court and High Court judges, led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna, is set to face off against the Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record (SCAORA) XI in the opening match of the inaugural SCAORA 20-over white ball Cricket League. The match will take place on Sunday at 4:30 PM.

SCAORA XI, which includes Senior Advocates and Advocates-on-Record (AoRs), will have SCAORA President Vipin Nair as its playing captain, while Solicitor General Tushar Mehta will serve as the non-playing captain.

Ahead of the contest, the judges participated in a practice session on Saturday.

The first edition of the SCAORA Cricket League will see eight teams, each led by a designated Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court, competing for the title.

The participating teams are led by Senior Advocates Dama Seshadri Naidu, PB Suresh, Sajan Poovayya, Devadatt Kamat, Buddy Ranganathan, Sitesh Mukherjee, Vikas Pahwa, and Chinmoy Sharma.

All matches will be played under floodlights as day-night fixtures, using a white ball. The opening match is set to be telecast live, with special permissions secured from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA).

In a press release, SCAORA President Vipin Nair stated, "Sporting events like the Cricket League promise to be a welcome break to both the judges and the AoRs from their usual serious work schedules and is a continuation of innovative events being introduced by the current SCAORA Executive Committee like holding an International Legal Conclave recently at Goa."

The league has been organized by a core team within SCAORA, comprising Vipin Nair (President), Amit Sharma (Vice-President), Nikhil Jain (Secretary), and Kaustabh Shukla (Assistant Secretary).
