Vikas Singh Elected SCBA President for Fourth Term; Pragya Baghel Becomes Honorary Secretary

Senior Advocate Vikas Singh has won the election for the post of President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) for the term 2025-26. This marks the fourth time Singh has been elected to lead the SCBA. He secured victory against Senior Advocates Pradeep Rai and Adish Agarwala. Previously, Singh held the SCBA presidency during the terms 2022-2023, 2021-2022, and 2017-2018. In the previous year, the position was held by Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal.

Rahul Kaushik has been elected Vice President, while Pragya Baghel secured the position of Honorary Secretary, and Vikrant Yadav has become Treasurer. The Supreme Court had, on May 6, directed that elections for office-bearer posts of the SCBA be held on May 20. The Court mandated that the voter list used in the 2024 elections would serve as the basis for this election, with an additional directive that members who became eligible by February 28, 2025, should also be included.

Further directives from the Court included an exclusive reservation of the Secretary post for a woman candidate in the 2025 elections. Additionally, the Court stipulated that one-third of positions in the Executive Committee (3 out of 9 seats) and one-third of Senior Executive Member posts (2 out of 6 seats) must also be exclusively reserved for women candidates
